"If you have only two pennies, spend the first on bread and the other on hyacinths for your soul." --Arab Proverb

Due to escalating rents making it impossible for poor and working class poets to move to the city and write, CAConrad will open the Philadelphia Poetry Hotel. The idea is to acquire several buildings in the downtown area and provide affordable apartments for poets with low incomes.

There will also be rooms available for visiting poets, a poetry library, as well as performance reading space and basement print shop with printing presses for all local poets to use. We may even open up the Philadelphia Poetry Hotel Laundromat next door with an Emily Dickinson spin cycle! This landmark project will help make Philadelphia a community of artists once again, allowing art to flourish despite economic barriers.
